I'm from Málaga, in Andalucía, the south of Spain. We don't always play chess dressed as bullfighters (only on Sundays :-P ) I think I'm the first Spaniard posting, amazing!

BTW I love Scotland, I visited it last summer (Edinburgh, Inverness, the Highlands, Fort William, Aberdeen...) and it was wonderful. Well, also the other tenths of countries I've visited where, but Scotland had a special taste...

Chess lovers from Spain may be sparse on this site.
Lets Play Chess.com has more than a few players.
One must remember that chess was quite alive in the Second World in Spain.
I believe Alekhine although residing in Portugal may have played in Spain.
I have to almost certain that Chess Books in Spanish is alive and doing well.
When you count Spain, Latin and Central America Chess is doing well as the second or third sport. Second, soccer, Third Chess , and the the number one with the lights out.
