To be perfectly honest I don't keep up with (most) modern music anymore. I can't be bothered to look at a music TV channel (MTV doesn't seem interested in music anymore, a local/national channel disappeared, though there's another). Most of the 'music' shown is copy-paste melody, rap, r&b, weird pop or some other abhorration. Radio stations are even worse...
Which leaves me with what old music I have (loose tracks for the most part), some albums and a few artists I'm 'following'. (I don't recognise any of the bands/songs you mention aside from Linkin Park, which is too 'screamy' for my taste.)
For most bands/artists, I like particular songs, but very rarely more than 1/5 of the songs they ever brought out. Exceptions, to some degree, include the Red Hot Chilipeppers, Queen, U2, the Beatles, Guus Meeuwis (dutch), Robbie Williams (up to Escapology), Rowwen Hèze (dutch, 'Rough Hessian'), Marco Borsato (dutch, up to Onderweg), Abba, Daft Punk... A bit of a mix of different styles that. Some of my favourite songs from those artists:
- RHCP - Under the bridge
- RHCP - Californication
- Queen - Bohemian rhapsody *(Unescapable)
- Queen - The show must go on
- U2 - Beautiful day
- U2 - With or without you
- U2 - I still haven't found what I'm looking for
- Beatles - Hey Jude
- Guus Meeuwis - Brabant *(A good song about missing, the provence, Noord-Brabant, where I live)
- Guus Meeuwis - Zo ver weg *(So far away)
- Robbie Williams - Feel
- Robbie Williams - Something beautiful
- Robbie Williams - Eternity
- Robbie Williams - Road to Mandalay
- Rowwen Hèze - Limburg *(the provence east of Noord-Brabant)
- Marco Borsato - Ik leef niet meer voor jou *(I'm dead to you)
- Marco Borsato - Wat is mijn hart? *(What is my heart?)
- Marco Borsato & Sita - Lopen op het water *(Walking on water)
- Marco Borsato - De waarheid *(The truth)
- Marco Borsato - De bestemming *(The destination)
- Abba - Summer night city
- Abba - Fernando
- Daft Punk - Superheroes
- Daft Punk - Digital love
Then there are some artists/bands I 'follow', I guess I would be a fan of those; Enya, Delerium and more notably, Muse; some of my favourites there:
- Enya - Orinoco flow *(Sail away)
- Enya - The longships
- Enya - Lothlorien *(Not related to Peter Jackson's production of the Lord of the Rings)
- Enya - Marble halls
- Enya - China roses
- Enya - Daora ar mo chroi
- Enya - Isobella
- Enya - Amarantine
- Enya - May it be
- Delerium & Jaël - After all
- Delerium & Leigh Nash - Run for it
- Delerium & Sarah McLaughlan - Silence
- Delerium - Euphoria/Firefly
- Delerium & Jennifer McLaren - Fallen icons
- Delerium & Joanne Stevens - A poem for Byzantium
- Muse - Butterflies and hurricanes
- Muse - Hate this and I'll love you
- Muse - Citizen erased
- Muse - Falling down
- Muse - Unintended
- Muse - Megalomania
- Muse - Darkshines
- Muse - Knights of Cydonia
- Muse - City of delusion
- Muse - Take a bow
- Muse - Stockholm syndrome
- Muse - Sing for absolution
To name a 'few' heh.
Hm, the only other thing recent would be the Amy McDonald album I acquired, easy-going music, but a tad too simple for repetitive use I'm guessing.
At any rate, this, I fear, is only a part of what music I like.
I'm also quite fond of music on soundtracks, for movies, television series, games etc. Hans Zimmer in particular stands out.. some soundtracks I really like:
Hans Zimmer - Gladiator
Klaus Badelt - Pirates of the Caribbean 1: Curse of the Black Pearl *(With help from Zimmer)
Hans Zimmer - Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead man's chest *(The lesser PotC soundtrack)
Hans Zimmer - Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At world's end
Trevor Jones - Last of the Mohicans
Howard Shore - Lord of the Rings *(complete recordings)
Hans Zimmer - King Arthur
Randy Edelmann - Dragonheart
Patrick Doyle - Eragon *(Even though I thought the movie was the worst book adaptation ever)
Ennio Morricone - Anthology: A fistful of film music *(Many different movies)
Hmm..

I listen to various types of rock, though mostly older stuff. I do like some newer stuff, but I don't follow the newer stuff as much as I used to. The one song that came out lately that I really like is "Life is Beautiful" by Sixx AM. I picked up that album, which is mostly just weird, but it has a couple of good tracks.

Perseus: Ah, you like the older songs about as early as 1970s I suppose (I never researched on the Beatles)? I like U2 too, although I like harder rock (but not heavy metal, that sucks for me). To tell you the truth, my friends who liked the older songs are all 19 and above. The newer generations prefer alternative rocks these days. I find it kinda weird, there doesn't seem to be any form of proper transition. Although, some still like country and pop. I wouldn't bother about that. I hate hip-hop or hip hop + rap though.
Well, I dont follow up with the songs, I just find what I like, which are mostly punk rock, alternative rock, pop rock and rock-screamoish. I dont like to go with the flow of society's preferences. I never did.

Hm, well the 60s and some stuff from the 50s is fine too. I don't know... As I said, I take it a song at a time, hard to draw conclusions afterward. Muse is the only group I can listen to without needing to adapt to the music as it were.

Never heard of them before, but interesting coincidence in the song titles. The same singer who recorded "Mr. Crowley" also had a song called "Slow Down".
