Well, I would've died without my 4GB 2nd gen Nano in the bus this week. Having stuff like this on it helps too:
'Normal' Albums
- A selection from
Delerium albums;
Karma, Chimera and
Nuages de Monde; 18 tracks.
- The four
Muse albums;
Showbiz, Origin of Symmetry, Absolution and
Black Holes and Revelations; 48 tracks.
- A selection from
Enya albums;
Enya, Watermark, Shepherd Moons, The Memory of Trees, a Day without Rain and
Amarantine;19 tracks.
- A selection from the work of (dutch artist)
Guus Meeuwis; 15 tracks.
- A small selection from
Vangelis; including tracks from
Alexander, Blade Runner and the title tracks from
Conquest of Paradise and
Chariots of Fire; 11 tracks.
TV/Movie Soundtracks
- A selection of the
Battlestar Galactica TV series soundtrack; by
Richard Gibbs (mini-series) and
Bear McCreary (season 1 to 3); 34 tracks. Very odd soundtracks with an obvious change after season 1, with (large) taiko drums hammering during action sequences and a wide variety of exotic instruments used.
- The
Children of Dune TV mini-series soundtrack; by
Brian Tyler; 36 tracks. Brilliant soundtrack.
- The
Dragonheart TV movie soundtrack; by
Randy Edelman; 15 tracks. The main theme carrying the entire movie.
- The
Gladiator extended movie score; by
Hans Zimmer; 63 tracks. The more tracks the merrier.
- The
Hero movie soundtrack; by
Tan Dun; 17 tracks. Very exotic for my tastes but lovely.
- The
King Arthur movie score; by
Hans Zimmer; 16 tracks. Standard (high) Zimmer quality.
- The
Kingdom of Heaven movie soundtrack; by
Harry Gregson-Williams; 19 tracks. A tad exotic.
- The
Last of the Mohicans movie soundtrack; by
Trevor Jones; 16 tracks; a very simple but beautifully strung together soundtrack.
- The
Mission movie soundtrack; by
Ennio Morricone; 20 tracks. Some of the most stunning cinematic music I've ever heard with the Oboe solo standing out.
- A selection of all 3 of the
Pirates of the Caribbean movie soundtracks; by
Klaus Badelt (
Curse of the Black Pearl) and
Hans Zimmer (
Dead Man's Chest and
At World's End); 38 tracks. Beautiful soundtracks.
- A selection of
Star Trek movie soundtracks from (
Star Trek,
Wrath of Khan,
Search for Spock,
Voyage Home,
Final Frontier,
Undiscovered Country,
Generations,
First Contact and
Nemesis); by various composers; 19 tracks. Mostly variations of the main theme, but a little more of the last three; nothing from Insurrection as that soundtrack is a little average.
- A selection of
Star Wars movie soundtracks from (
A New Hope,
Empire Strikes Back,
Return of the Jedi,
Phantom Menace,
Attack of the Clones and
Revenge of the Sith); by
John Williams; 21 tracks. Good music, a little too crowded for most of my moods.
Game Soundtracks (PC)
-
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura game soundtrack; by the no longer existing Troika studios; 22 tracks. Almost exclusively consists of deep, moody string music, a rare gem.
- A selection from the
Elder Scrolls game soundtracks of
Morrowind (TES III) and
Oblivion (TES IV); by
Jeremy Soule; 26 tracks. Quality soundtracks both of them.
- A selection from the actual ingame score of
Gothic 3; by
Kai Rosenkranz; 20 tracks. Contrary to almost all game soundtracks out there, this is mostly performed by an actual orchestra and choir, fantastic lively music which is a huge plus for someone playing in an orchestra himself.
- A selection from the
Guild Wars game soundtrack of
Guild Wars and its expansions
Factions,
Nightfall and
Eye of the North; by
Jeremy Soule; 20 tracks. I don't own Guild Wars, but I acquired the soundtracks for use in Morrowind and Oblivion. Especially the EotN tracks are fabulous, where Soule (with help of
Julian Soule no doubt) rediscoverers a sort of epic music he'd lost.
-
The Witcher game soundtrack; by
Adam Skorupa and
Pawel Blaszczak; 28 tracks. Fantastic game, likewise music.
Various Stuff
- As 'Mix 1' I have a large collection of (mostly) instrumental music including some of the soundtracks of Last Samurai, Hercules the Legendary Journeys (notably Faith's Song), Mark
and Legend of Zorro, Dances With Wolves, Troy, Stardust, DaVinci Code, Road to Perdition, Serenity, Gattaca, Batman Begins, 300; various other music like from Ennio Morricone's anthology album, from PC games like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2, Rome: Total War, Shenmue (I have 8 orchestrated tracks), some of Herb Albert and Tijuana Brass' finest not to mention Tchaikovsky's 16-minute long 1812 overture with cannon at the end.
- As 'Mix 2' I have your average music. Ranging from Queen, to U2, to Metallica (I don't necessarily like Metallica though), to Robbie Williams, to the Kill Bill soundtracks, to Coldplay, to some of the Rocky (soundtrack) music to REM and Toto.
Which makes a total of 766 tracks; the thing as usual crammed tight with music
