i am interested in archery and i was wondering if their here. i am not that much of a shot but i can hold my own. what type of bows/arrow do u shoot?

I've done a little archery, but not much, and I don't have my own equipment. I perform Renaissance Faires (see my avatar pic), and some of my friends are archers, so I've practiced a little with their bows. The style is VERY old school, since they're trying to be historically accurate, so no composite bows or anything like that. Just plain wooden bows and arrows.

I've shot with a fair ammount of bows. The only marksman equipment I have is a dartboard with many cheap darts and two more expensive sets. I'm equally bad at both darts and archery.

One thing I do remember is that I did manage to hit all target areas 2 vertical, 2 horizontal on the ground (1 blocked by a wooden obstacle for each) with what I think was an old style longbow at 100 paces. Luck had a lot to do with that. The particular open tournament also had a shooting contest with modern bows, didn't do well there at all (as expected). Did okay with the crossbow after. Since the results were weighed and the longbow shooting weighed heavily it won me a 3rd prize at a fair in Belgium where a lot of serious competitors attended. I've 'shot' a number of times after and really proved it was luck.

I would think I'm better suited for firing less low-tech weaponry and wielding one-handers. In fact, I'm okay at what we call 'stick fighting', which is basically sword fighting in protective clothing with blunted sticks.

I have got a magyar bow, from Hungary. It's not a high tech compound bow, it's made of wood and leather. I belief they used to be used by arched chavalery. I really suck at archery, just like playing chess,...

I think that if you would have a basic search online ....you would find some material on that……may be a guide or a e-book……but in my opinion the best way to master a game is to play it on an on and the experience you have against your competitors will be the ultimate resource of learning. You can always play the game online and learn from that. There is dominoes game which is a good online portal for dominoes players to make them more advanced with games against different players around the globe.
