Notes:
* I consider trilogies to be one movie.
* Gladiator mainly because of Hans Zimmer. Probably my favourite movie score composer. His epic theme at the end of "The Barbarian Horde" is fantastic. It's then improved upon by "Am I Not Merciful?", which is arguably Zimmer's best ever.
* I have a list of "honourable mentions" as long as my leg. (Including: Serenity, Children of Men, Stardust, Batman Begins, The Godfather, Dances With Wolves, A Fistful of Dollars/For a Few Dollars More/The Good The Bad and The Ugly, The Matrix, Equilibrium, Shawshank Redemption, Road To Perdition, House of Flying Daggers...)
* Star Wars really shines in the Old trilogy (episodes 4 through 6) but though I love it, it has a lot of 'omg that's lame!' moments I can't stand to watch..

Cool thread, hopefully i'll find some movies i've never heard of in it. Always nice to watch.

Bum bum bum bum ---- I so wanted to put that one in and ---- forgot! Audrey Tautou is just ------ whatever the word is. And the guy in Amelie who plays the character who gets off with the cashier is the chief actor in Delicatessen (one of my top movies).

Anyone noticing that Quentin Tarantino is figuring in everbody's choice? Does it say anything about chess players or Tarantino?

Says something about Tarentino. For Kill Bill, QT hired a guy for the action sequences (he wasn't an action director up to then). After he explained the ideas floating around in his head to him, he was asked: "That's great! But what do you need me here for?!?"
What he does with his movies, the previsualization process, the music first - scene later thing, isn't too distant to what we find in chess...
