Have any of you guys seen this show? It shocks me to see all the internet child predators out here on the web.

Yea, i know what you mean. A friend of mine at school called Alex ***** was arrested for indecency with a child a year ago. We all thought he was a little weird, and some kids would pick on him, but we didn't think he did things like this. He did some stuff to kids during some church choir practice. Just goes to show that you never really know a person.

I find the show troubling. Seems a lot like entrapment.

I love the show, and actually met some of the DAs who work on the cases when they come to SoCal.

These guys have the most classic excuses when Chris Hansen walks in and asks them what they think they are doing, naked, in the kitchen.

GREAT show, but yes, it is sad to think these guys are everywhere .

Troubling? Entrapment? I can't imagine anyone using these terms to describe a process (Any process), to remove these individuals from the street.

I have always found it rather wrong that we are arresting people because of a sexual fetish. As long as they aren't forcing the 13-year old girl (if they were forcing it would be called rape) to have sex with them, I don't see the problem. How is this any different from being gay?

Note. The program seems to indicate and rightly so that predators today are using computers, going to popular children's websites. If you have children monitor your child's computer.
Fortunately the show does indicate that there are non-governmental agencies also doing the monitoring and going after predators. But it appears there are too many of them.
In NYS October 31st, the County of Westchester called all sexual predators to stay for 3 or more hours to an auditorium. The idea to get them out of their homes while children trick or treat on Halloween.
The show has also done segments on computer scams, credit card scams,
and those phony emails awarding prizes or money.

Children can't legally consent to sex with an adult, so it qualifies as rape. An adult making concrete moves to meet a minor for sex qualifies as a crime as well.

Each State in the United States has different laws regarding definitions of the subject in question. One State has very lenient sentences regarding adults being charged. Other States have strict laws.
The Show if you watched has caught Ministers, business people, one Rabbi (who was given a strict sentence by the Judge) and dozens of others.

I’ve seen quite a lot of these on Youtube – while in the majority of cases I believe it to be a good thing, I don’t automatically believe everything that is shown is an accurate representation of the facts. The dateline people have had to pay well over a dozen out of court settlements, when it was discovered they edited the chat logs which incriminates most of the people they catch in the stings.

Then there was that case of the Senator who, granted, had been engaging in sexual chat with what he believed to be a teenage boy but stopped short of actually coming to the house. When his identity was discovered from the pictures he sent, Chris Hanson insisted on taking the TV crew to His house – the Senator saw them coming through the window and shot himself in the head.

I don’t in any way condone what these men get their kicks from, but it’s best to keep in mind that ‘To Catch a Predator’ is a show that relies on sensationalism and drama – the only reason Chris Hanson interviews them, is to attempt to make them break down or humiliate themselves in some way so we can all have a good laugh – an immediate arrest should be sufficient.
