I would be the pawn. I need to be pushed to do something, im virtually useless in my orginal state, im weak, I am unimportant in society. However, if I am pushed (inspiration or just feel too obliged) far enough, I can be as strong as the Queen herself.

Ha, You must be the first to vote for being a pawn. I wonder why nobody wants to be a queen? I mean, it's the strongest piece on the board.

I'm with Devotion on the pawn bit - pawns can be very strong, and every other piece on the board starts life what it will finish life as. The pawn, however, is a dreamer, and a fighter. If it makes a complete journey and reaches its goal, it can become whatever it wants to be! That, friends, is a dream come true!

Pawn; I have a lot of unusual rules and if someone doesn't know me very well it takes a while for them to catch on to these rules (e.g. en passant, promotion, etc.).

Well, I am not proportional to the Queen's power. Futhermore, I believe that every piece is strong given the right situation. The queen itself may not win the game, only when assisted will she win. Unless of course, the gap in strength between you and your opponent are substantially large or if he made a very serious mistake.
