Does anyone know of any games or stories of a well known Grandmaster losing in a simultaneous chess exhibition? You almost never hear of it happening. @.@

The most recent example I can recall is Sharma-Shirov, Canada (probably in Montreal) 2010.

Well, most GMs play 20 to 30 games when they give a simul and they always lose several games. You need to read more chess literature Funyunwolf!

Meister, it was in Ottawa and Shirov played a rather strong group of chess players. Four were rated over 2300, eight were rated over 2000, and 14 were rated A class (1800-2000). Shirov won 25 drew 9 and lost 2.

PS---In 1951 IM Bob Wade gave a simul in Russia to 30 schoolboys aged 14 and under. He didnt win a single game! He lost 20 and drew 10.

I agree, that's a very impressive effort from Shirov, and it was especially generous to give more simul games than was originally agreed at the last minute.

@ the Russia simul! I've only given two simultaneous exhibitions (in both cases the highest rated player was about 1800), and the results were 12 wins and a draw for me, and 13 wins and two draws.
