Found this crazy 96 piece chess set on ebay..
Does anyone know the year or make of this?

Wow that is crazy and huge at 8 1/2 Kings! The faces remind me of the old Humpy Dumpy cartoons from tv when I was younger.

Sorry though, I know nothing about it this set.

Hi Bosko, that looks like a set my sister-in-law gave to my son several years ago. She had taken a ceramics class at an adult education center and made them from moulds provided to the students. They were then glazed and fired. No dateing is available except that her class was in the late 80's so this set could have been produced 30 years ago or last week. No manufacture info available to me about the moulds but I'm certain that as a set it could have been produced anywhere in North America.

Bottom line is that the set (OK as I recall but not special) is a student project in producing ceramics from a mould with an unspecified manufacture date and unknowable production date unless the seller knows the provonce.

It's called a Duncan Classic, & it comes in 2 sizes, of which this is the larger. I have the smaller one, which fits well on a board with 2.25" squares.

Dustypawn is right, the moulds were sold to many a ceramics studio, so the sets are still being made, all across the US.
