Hello,

after a few years when my interest in chess had somehow waned.
I'm hooked again
I never took any kind of chess classes but I was now considering the option of subscribing to an online course with IM/GM tuition as I really want to improve my game (I've been stuck between 1600 and 1800 forever and given up on "serious" games, in favour of rapid chess on the Internet, which doesn't really help improving one's understanding of the game).

So I was wondering if any of you guys has any direct experience with online courses / tuition and could suggest a good place to start.
I've had a look at the International Chess School (International Chess School) which seems ok and not overly expensive, but I'm open to all suggestions!

Have you exhausted all free options?

The link in the first post looks highly interesting. I might well try that place out in fact.

I think his idea is that all the "free" options are only so good, and he is stuck for a reason, a reason he cannot find and needs help with. I believe I am in the same boat, and am also fairly interested in some sort of online/interactive chess instruction.

Free options such as?
If I add up all the money I spent in chess books and software over the years, an online tuition course would probably look quite a bargain in comparison...
However, if you could suggest **effective** free options I would be glad to give it a try...

That online course does look interesting but for best results you would probably want to take the more individualized and more expensive options.
I am not sure what the basic course will give you beyond what would be available in books or on the web. Of course that doesn't negate the value of the basic course.

I have a 'delete post' feature. Along with a 'permanent ban' feature. How's that?

I checked out that site (International Chess School )for a couple hours last night, downloaded and read every sample article they provided. I was pretty impressed, and actually, had never seen material presented in such a way before. Never in any book had I seen anything like this, out of the hundreds I've seen. Seems very promising, and I really might sign up in a month or two.

However, do you know of an even more comprehensive site, that might have actual interaction and feedback? I would be willing to pay for such a site if the material was effective enough.
