My son is in kindergarten and had his first introduction to chess in an afterschool program yesterday and he loved it. They played a game he says was called Hungry Horse. I know it involved moving the knight around because he knows that the knight moves "1...2...1 to the side". But I don't know anything more about the game like how it was initially set up, what other pieces may have been involved or what the object is.

Has anyone heard of Hungry Horse? Any other ideas for playing chess games with a 5 year old?

Sounds like it may just be a training exercise where you put pawns or something on the board and he has to figure out where to move the knight (horse) to capture them. That type of thing is a common way to get beginners, especially kids, used to how the pieces move, especially the knight.
