Being new on this forum i was asked to make my first post To me it seems that people are too hard on chess. Many of them actually hold it against Chess that its experts are so good at it that an average player has no chance of beating them which for them counts as a flaw of chess instead of an indication of the depth of chess and just how good you can be in it. Which annoys me quite a bit.

I don't know of anyone who has ever made a statement of that kind, blaming the game. Maybe true beginners who say something like "This game is too hard" when they lose their first game against some low level player who just taught them the rules. But I don't recall anyone ever blaming the game for being too difficult.

I usually blame myself for being too incompetent to improve at it.

Then you should go to the other board game forums who don't like chess for the reasons i stated above. One of the most common reasons that many people prefer Go over chess is because in chess you make a single mistake and all your long term strategy goes down the drain while Go is much more forgiving. I don't understand that why are you blaming the game for your own mistake. And then there was this one who said that Chess at the expert level has no strategy because it is one perfect play countered by another perfect play with little deviation from the proven play which i disagreed with.

At the grandmaster level, they're kind of right. Everyone plays so perfectly that half the games end in draws. See the current world championship for an example of that.

But it's a fun game for those of us at the lower levels, because we're still striving to get as close as we can to that level of perfection that we know we'll never reach.

Really. Do the games end in draws because the Grandmasters reach a stage where no one can win or whether it is because they agree to call it a draw because they see that after much play no side seems to have an advantage. I tend to think that with the rules of chess it will be pretty difficult to get a draw when played to its full length.

You're wrong.

Ithink chess does give more chances especially in beginner games where the game swings from win to loss more than once very often while in expert chess there is nothing perfect unless if you mean very closed chess and it ends in draw here because chances of win are very law but in open games draws have entirely different reasons
about those players who prefer go well I think they just say this to try to say "we didn't fail in mastering the basics but the game sucks " while in fact it's not
