New Rules
… I’ve had extremely little time to rest at all the last three days and won’t have much more in the coming two. Luckily, today I had some time for myself. Naturally, I turned on my laptop to be reassured that the forum runs itself and doesn’t need my continuous attention to find that maybe that’s not the case.
I logged on, to find a helpful pm in my inbox. The subject disappointed me a little.
Let me explain to everyone what I’ve been doing these last few days. I’ve spent my time and resources on making people happy/happier. By playing my trumpet in what we dutch (or actually only those way down south) call ‘carnaval’. You may look it up on wikipedia and find an absolutely terrible and inaccurate description of what is without a doubt (in my mind) the most festive occasion in the entire year. From pub to pub, music on the streets, play music we know by heart or figure out as we go, music in the pubs and people doing the ‘polonaise’,a ‘dance’ where you just put one (or two) arm(s) on the shoulder of the person in front of you and let’s go! So far it’s been every bit as great as last year and the best is yet to come.
That brings me back here, which is a contrasting experience. I’ve always believed a moderator should be a helping hand rather than a steel-plated boot doing being a janitor more than a bouncer. I’d like to keep believing that. The rules I'll be enforcing:
The new forum rules:
- Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting.
- Members should post in a way that is respectful of other users. Be tolerant at any time. Flaming or abusing users in any way will not be tolerated.
- Members are asked to not act as "back seat moderators". If members note an issue they are welcome to bring it to the attention of moderator by pm. Do not respond to such topics yourself.
- Members should post in a way which is consistent with "normal writing". That is users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or coloured text, etc. Similarly users should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts.
- Members should use an appropriate, descriptive title when posting a new topic. Examples of bad titles include; "Help me!", "I'm stuck!", "I've got an error!", etc. Examples of good titles include; "New Game: Perseus - SomeOtherPlayer", "Two Knights Defense: Fritz Variation and sidelines", etc.
- Spam is not tolerated here under any circumstance.
- Continuously linking your own website to promote it is not allowed. You may use your signature (which will come up beneath all your posts) for this purpose.
- Administrators (Admins) and Moderators (Mods) reserve the right to edit or remove any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. is up to them and not to forum members.
- Aforementioned Admins and Mods reserve the right to edit this list of rules at anytime.
Discuss these rules in this thread only if you please.
