All welcome Perseus as moderator
Hi folks, I hope you all join me in welcoming Perseus as our newest moderator here. Perseus has been very diligent in informing me about spam posts and since there is a zero tolerance policy for that type of thing here, and given Perseus' commitment to the board, it made sense to make an additional moderator.

Spammer begone!
Well, off goes another spammer.
oyagag perma-banned for spamming. Threads deleted. I'd like to say two things, well actually three..
1. In the (I think rare?) case I'll miss one of those spam threads/posts, give me a PM and I'll have it off.
2. When a thread like that pops up, just leave it be, don't reply, the thread will go to digital oblivion anyway.
3. Thanks for your support, I'll keep up the good work.

Sounds good, thanks. I'll stop my "you s***" replies to the extra abusive spammers, you are doing a great job!

Right...
Just removed another two spammers. I must say, I'm getting faster at removing their posts and accounts when I've spotted them. I think one of them was actually still in the process of posting when I gave him a permaban so he still got an extra thread in (which I happily deleted).

My suspicions are confirmed. Here's some fun for you, look at what the poor spammer was reading. (Click to enlarge)

I now officially hijack this thread for updates as to my activities as Moderator of these forums.
Just rid us of another user (my 10th perma-ban). Four offensive posts in which he purposely attacks other members (trolling) with no reason or argument.
Naturally, I won't tolerate that. I wonder if anyone noticed the posts were even there.

I missed that one...good job...no scratch that- GREAT job! Last Veterans's day gave you some headaches, I know though. I hope Thanksgiving doesn't bring another bored spammer attacking us.

Thanks.
Luckily I know how to find all posts by a certain user and delete them en masse. Just by clicking through the forums (which I'd be doing anyway) I can easily single out the unwanted posts.
Which is where this forum's interface helps. If I find even one of these posts, I'll look up all posts by the user. So far, they've all been first posters trying to annoy/spam which makes it even simpler; also it's been the case that all these users' posts were bad. It requires a click to select all posts by the user, select the deletion option, hit physically remove, enter a reason for good measure and click go, all inside of 10 seconds.
Banning is slightly more tedious, I have to go into the user options, click ban user, copy/paste over the username, select permanent ban, enter a reason and hit okay.
I derive pleasure of knowing most of the spam/attacks go unnoticed. Banning one 'in the act' certainly gave me smile.
UPDATE 1:
Just banned xxgame. Another incarnation of our WoW spammer.
UPDATE 2:
Just banned udaysri. Trying to fill the forum with adds for an SMS service in India is bad mmkay?
UPDATE 3:
Just banned happyday. A different WoW site being advertised, same fate, bye-bye.
