Also known as BOUG (Bag of Unusual Games). Well not so unusual.
One of the chess games which also appears in Chess Variants was the original computer chess game. No Bishops, and on a 6 x 6 chess board.
Probably the old over heated tube generated computers could not handle 8x8 with Bishops.
