After I complete my Chess Basics Articles, does anyone have any preference in the order that I write additional articles? My personal preference is to then do a series on endings. However, if enough are more interested in openings I may do a series on general opening principles first and some brief discussions of specific openings.

No preference here Fegary, hopefully your polls have helped/will help you out with this question I think perhaps a general openings article would be a nice next step to take? But completely up to you!

By specific, I mean something that can be addressed in a relatively brief article. On openings, about the most I envision in a single article is a brief survey, giving the ideas and a few of the main lines. Then perhaps additional articles devoted to specific lines. E.g. the Ruy Lopez is a vast topic. Even a discussion of a Closed Chigorin Ruy Lopez has the potential to get tediously lengthy. I've been studying the Ruy Lopez for close to 40 years and feel I've barely scratched the surface...

Yes a brief survey of openings would be nice, and then hopefully we can develop on Endeavour's idea of the Openings Book in the Openings Forum- as this will allow for more open conversation and debate on the specific Openings?

If I'm reading Endeavour's idea correctly it probably needs a database to be practical.

Might even be fun and interesting to have a database that populates with each game played here too...

We could setup a separate sub-forum of the openings forum to add them to? Probably best to keep it within the forum structure to allow open discussion on them.

That will hopefully be something thats available with the new game! It will just be a case of figuring out the best way to access previous games, something for me to work out!

I've noticed that the current game allows you to view all games that have been played as well as those currently in progress. But they're arranged by game #. If there's a convenient way to bring up all games following a specific opening variation I can't find it.

Thats correct all games are stored and viewable by game #, there is no way of bringing up specific games from openings, etc. That would certainly be an interesting feature- whether or not thats feasible is another thing- I would guess it is as all the search facility would be doing is searching for games with a certain set of moves within the database. Got lots of things to look into for this new game feature now
