each of those looks square to me, I'm wondering if each of them was also done on a dark square and we had both a blank white square and a blank black square if we could easily make diagrams? Or would it be easier to have an app that generates a diagram from FEN notation for use in posts?

I think its going to be easier to have an app for generating the diagrams from FEN, have been looking at a few recently, so soon as I get the time I'll get one setup and installed If anyone knows of any, or has any preference please let me know, thanks, Greg

I think I said this somewhere else before, but the pieces aren't called "castles" but "rooks". So the smiley abbrevation should be brook and wrook, not b castle and w castle.
And maybe you could use the FEN-notation pieces for the images instead? Imo these smileys look less nice than the ones used for FEN diagrams. But maybe that's just my opinion.
