How to post chess board.

Hello.

New to the site. I see some threads that also show chess boards with some pieces on them. How is this done?

Use the FEN button(s) to do that. The left FEN button lets you put in a position, when you're done with it, click finish and the code will be put in your post. Or copy in a FEN code from a third party application and use the [ fen]<insert code here>[ /fen][/code] tags. It's really quite simple.

*I added two spaces to my fen tags so it wouldn't use "<insert code here>" as an actual FEN board position.

FEN is just a line of text to describe a particular Chess position.
Chess software can read that line of text and from that create a Chess diagram of that position. More info here-

If you don't have Chessmaster etc. to create a FEN text line you can make the FEN line here- try reading the first post in this thread-

The FEN buttons are located above the text area that you write in when making a new post- look just above and to the right side of the "white space" where you type your message. Feel free to ask more questions- this is easy, easy, easy stuff to explain and show "in person" but a little hard and mysterious to explain out in typed messages(at least for me ). If your ready, feel free to try a test diagram in this thread.
