Alternatively please feel free to arrange games with other forum members via Private Messages.

When setting up new games, please ensure the member who will be updating the FEN diagram creates the thread, so the diagram is in the first post and become an automatic sticky post (Auto sticky posts in Correspondence and Puzzle sections)

My Bird's Opening book arrived yesterday, and maybe someone would like to play a Bird's game with me (where I am white)? I'm a beginner when it comes to the Bird's Opening, so this is your chance to crush me!

I'm afraid of the Bird-Larsen now. Yesterday I watched an expert level player demolish an IM with it. Of course, the line the IM played against it was a little sketchy in the first place.

Hey Phobeter, have you ever played against 1e4 d5 2b3 ? It's an odd line that I've played a little bit, but it seems that black has little trouble getting an equal, or even better game from it.

Other moves than 2. exd5 give black no problems. The main advantage of the Scandinavian is that black hasn't played c6 or e6 yet (unlike the Caro/French), so if white doesn't take on e4, then black has a better version of the French/Caro where white doesn't play 3. exd5.

I'm going to be in about a month lull between tournaments, so if anyone would like to play a correspondence game on here, let me know. I'd appreciate the oppurtunity to keep my play from rusting too much. Hopefully the next game is as helpful as the game against Phobeter was (I'm 2-0 against the Grand Prix in tournaments since...3...g6 is much better than what I was playing previously).
