International Chess Forums Tournament
Hi guys,
I was wondering if there might be some interest in a correspondence chess round robin tournament with the following participants:
- Chess Forums (UK)
- Chess Leaders (Bahrain)
- Chess Talk (Canada)
- OzChess (Australia)
If there is enough interest from members, please let me know and I will set it up.
Thanks,
AO

I'm interested, especially since our game with GM Akobian didn't end so well

What kind of time control would this thing be? I have a bad tendency to get lazy about playing moves quickly in correspondence games.

Maybe a move every couple days. The game with Akobian I think dragged on far too long between moves which resulted in a loss of interest by some members.
Right now Canada, UK, Bahrain, and Australia are keen, we are only waiting on Germany's Chess Forum to tell us whether they are in or out.

Ok, I'd say go for it. I check this forum often, so I'll definitely contribute.

Agreed. A week per move was simply too long. I suggest maybe four days/move, with three for initial voting and the fourth for any tiebreakers.

Or chessmastered.com got upset (for whatever reason) and left to forum. He hasn't been around in a while, although he could have gotten hit by a bus...

Well, Germany seems keen on two moves per week, but hasn't stated clearly that they will join the tournament yet - however I hope by tomorrow they will make their intentions clear and then we are off to the races

It looks like we are off to the races because members of every forum have now expressed interest. Okay, this is how it will work.
- Chess Forums (UK)
- OzChess (Aus)
Will make their moves every Wednesday and Saturday (USA Eastern time, late evening).
- Chess Talk (Can)
- Chess Leaders (Bah)
- Space Chess (Ger)
Will make their moves every Monday and Thursday.
Threads will be created for each game, every country will play every other country (round robin style tournament), so 4 games in all for each forum. On the due date, listed above, the move with the most support will be the one played. Members therefore should state what their move preference is within the thread.
Chess diagrams will be generated and placed in the thread to help everyone keep track.
ChessForums.org (UK) now has 2 moves to make, in these two (2) threads:
ChessForums.org (UK) vs Chess Talk (Canada)
Chess Forums (UK) vs Space Chess (Ger)
