Endgames First!, sounds like a nice section for a chess site.
Endgame knowledge allows an individual to see how to quickly force advantageous positions. This "Vision" is vital when it comes to transitioning from the middle to Endgame.
In my opinion, Endgames are Both Strategic and Tactical.
Strategic, in that the "General plan" becomes -purely- Tactical.
EG. "I know I can win this or draw, once the light squared bishops are removed." Therefore causing us to look in the direction of removing the light sqaured bishops *tactically.
Further Tactical, in the sense of attempting to "Force" our opponent into a position which will produce our desired outcome. -This "Imposition of will" is based purely upon cause and effect, and therefore no longer a part of general opening "Theory". Generally speaking, there are few opportunities in the Ending for waiting moves, (Triangulating for King opposition, as an exception)
Learn your endings, season them with strong tactical awareness, and you will undoubtedly raise your rating -Significantly.
