Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible to install new chess fonts in Fritz 9? I dislike all of the pieces you can choose within Fritz (Crystals, Oldstyle, etc.), and I'd rather use something like Cases on this site.

I have googled but can't find the answer to this.

As far as I know they're sort of embedded in the various program resources. I know the Chessmaster series has an unpack/repack program to get at them (they're images there though), I don't think it's possible for Fritz (and I agree, they're not much to look at).

Thanks. I just use the simple "Fritz4" set now, as it's easier to concentrate without all the visual distraction. Chessmaster seems to have a far nicer UI; maybe I should try that.

On the other hand, Fritz for the Nintendo DS is coming out in less than a month, which I'm thinking of trying first.

The Fritz pieces are taken from TrueType Fonts loaded on your PC during the program install. You can change them by creating or downloading new chess fonts and replacing the installed ones. Make backups before you replace any of the current fonts, though!
