Can anyone recommend a simple chess viewer that I can download and use offline? I'm looking for one that you can just "cut and paste" the move notation (ex. from a Yahoo game history). Thanks.

I use ChessPad. Not sure about Yahoo, though. When I used to play there, they didn't use a standard notation. But they weren't saving game histories, either, so it sounds like they've upgraded some. I'd still recommend switching to freechess.org instead of Yahoo, though. Less cheaters and spammers, if nothing else.

I use the older version of free Chessbase- only 2.7 meg download instead of 40+ ! The older version lets you save edited variations on games which I don't think the newer free version does. You can get the older version here- (but I don't know if it likes the new Windows Vista though...)

Something like ChessBase or Chesspad should do the trick. A simple Google search will do wonders .
