Ok, so recently one of my friends has shown me a chess game where he played white, had only 5 pieces, i played black with the full team, and I lost non stop. more than 20 games in a row. Maybe someone can help me solve it.
The set up is all black standard, and then white has pawns c2, d2, e2, and f2. and the king on the normal e1.
The tricky part comes when white gets double moves because of his shortage of pieces. Meaning that his pawns can leap 2, then move 1. Including attacks. And his king is a major killer. becoming more like a queen. Where in normal chess, a king controls 8 spaces, he now has 23 at his disposal. He can also move into check on his first move, so long as he is not in check at the end of his turn.
His normal starting moves look something like this:
or
or just moving from f2 to f5 with the one pawn.
So when he moves his pieces in attack, i try to block his pawns so they become useless, but because his king is such a ruthless offensive piece now, he quickly eliminates my defense unless i am able to pile more before he advances on my entire position. The game is quickly over if i cant move my king out of his space or keep him defended VERY well as he can move his king two spaces out of range, and it puts me in check, forcing me to run in one turn, where he takes two pieces and keeps me in check, if not mate.
It is also very hard to put him in check mate because he has so much mobility with his king.
This puzzle really has me stumped and i dont know what to do in order to beat him. He plays at around 1950 if not higher, so he is a fairly decent player, where my ranking would probably much lower as i am more of a casual player. He told me he was able to beat this little puzzle in only 10 games, where i played him in over 20 and lost every time with only slight improvement.
Please help me! lol
