Hi I tried to solve an easy puzzle on Shredderches



In my opinion the best move for black should be to set the king to G7 to capture the rook.
but according to the site the best move should be moving my rook to B1. But I don't understand why this is the best move because it will be easy for the king to escape. Unfortunately there is no explanation on the website itself.

Could someone help me to understand why moving the rook is the best move ?

If you play Kxg7, then he plays Be5+ and takes your rook as well.

If, on the other hand, you play Rb1+, then after he moves his king out of check you can play Kxg7, and now his Be5+ trick no longer works because your rook has moved off that diagonal.

Correct. That black bishop is waiting to strike. By placing the black rook on a white square, the white rook on g7 simply falls for free.
