Hi. I'm new to the game. This one should be easy, but I just can't see the solution. it's the first problem in Stauton's handbook, which was given by Mendheim.
You are the playing the white pieces and are asked to discover how to draw the game from this position using a perpetual check. You are told to begin by playing the Rook to K. B's 8th square. Any ideas on how to achieve the draw would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

In order to communicate the idea, I will use Algebraic notation. (If you are not familiar with this Bishop, there are free resources to explain.)

1. Ng6+ Kg8 (If, h7 takes knight, white stalemates with pxp+ -Discovered check by Queen, QxQ, Rf8+, RxR Stalemate. If h7 takes and pxp+ Kg8, Qh7+, Kf8, Qh8 mate.) 2. Rf8+ RxR 3. Nxe7+ and the King is forced back to H8, Ng6+ etc. and you have the draw. If, after Ng6+, Kg8, Rf8+, RxR, Ne7+, Kh8, Ng6+, pxN, pxp+, QxQ, stalemate.

planetchess is correct. Either way should do it though, playing Ng6+ first or Rf8+

sorry, but could you clarify how to achieve the draw after Rf8+ as the first move as is stated in the book? (I didn't look for other methods) thanks
