The second in my series of drawn out but highly untheorised openings is the probably suicidal gambit Alekhine's Defence Reversed - 1. Nf3 e5.

I'm not sure if there is anything in this at all, but has anybody ever played it?

I believe that Alekhine's Defense Reversed is aka the Zukertort Opening: Ross Gambit

I've never played it, nor known anyone who did.

I've never played it myself, but the thought of the opening did occur to me one day.

I think Nf3 e5?? is just nonsense. Nxe5 gives white a center pawn for free, and black only gains one tempo by harrassing the knight with d6. It is not not being played for no reason.
