ECO Codes - 20,000 of them???
How many openings does a pro know? I saw all the variations of openings on ecocodes*com and I was amazed by how many there are. With a sea of data on openings, where should I start my studies? Ruy Lopez, Kings Indian, or what? Anyone have a lesson plan or some guidlines?

Start with e4 e5 openings as they tend to be open games, which is easier for beginners to handle, try Ruy Lopez as white , if white opens with d4 try to response with d5, if you are new to chess it's better to study the idea behind chess opening rather than memorize moves.
Don't think to much about all those eco codes, cause you will not play most of it, just stick to openings that you know very well and comfortable at playing over the board.

Eco Code
I already am pretty good and know Lopez variations, what I am asking is about digging deeper into lines and theory. What steps should I take to go from 1700 to 2000? I have peaked out because I have never opened a book.
What would a pro coach tell me to do?

Where did you establish your 1700 rating?

Huh? Only experts and above should give such advice.

Eco codes
I got my average ratings from yahoo, ICC, chess.net, ect. About 1700 with 1/0 blitz and variants like crazyhouse and 960. I grew at about 100 points a year for my first 5 years, and have flattened out since.
Anyone who can guide a path for me is welcome to advise.

This is not a national rating. You have no right to claim it.

Eco Codes
Ok, well I think you get the point. I plan on entering the Orlando tourney soon to find out anyway.
Do you have anything constructive to add?
Anyone?

Let's see, you showed up yesterday.
Yea, here's something constructive, play in the tourney in the class "E" section. If you win a single game, that will be impressive.
