Hey guys,

Havent played much chess in the last two days so I havent had time to work on my black response to 1. e4

But guess what I did today

Thats right! I added a variation to oppening tree

I found while practicing my (C53) Giuoco Piano 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.c3 Nf6 5.d4

I frequently found that Black responded with the (C58) Two Knights defence whereby 3. ... Nf6
How do I deal with this I thought? After I bit of research I came up with the Kieseritsky Variation

3. ...Nf6 4. Ng5 d5 5. exd5 Na5 6. d3

YAY!

Now Eladar and Ryan have lost me a bit with the Pirc/ Modern/ KID debate (I understand that KID attacks kingside and Modern attacks Queenside, but where does Pirc fit in?)

Also, Ryan I havent got to work on the French yet but its on my list of things to do

I got a copy of Chessbase Light 2007 which is pretty awsome with its database search function. Although I dont understand how to use 'Engines" yet, theres a Fritz Engine built in but I dont understand how Im meant to get suggestions out of it (people often say at this point engine X suggested Ne4 was better with a score of 3.6 as opposed to my Be4 with a score of 1.2 bla bla bla) Any short hints (i understand that this question is in the wrong section of the forum so ignore it if that offends you)

This is pirc e4 d6 2.d4 Nf6 3.Nc3 g6, if black delays the development of his bishop at f6, or bring it on d7 then it's modern defense

KID

1. d4 nf6
2.c4 g6

It will be a KID if instead of facing white's pawn at d4 and e4, it will be pawns at c4 and d4 that black has to face

against the two knights you could try

6.Bb5+ c6
7.dxc6 bxc6
8. Be2

if black chases the knight with 8...h6 then

9. nf3 e4
10. ne5 bd6
11. f4

white has a nice game

Believe it or not (I won an end game)

Excuse any blunders its almost 1am!

The blunder that I saw was black's. He checkmated himself by taking the pawn with the pawn instead of with his King.

Eladar, when the other guy messes up we dont call it a bluder we call it succumbing to superior play and consistently applied pressure, (and hence proping up my fragile sense of self worth)

Also, to all that have already helped me, I've posted a thread in CC looking for my first CC game, its open to anyone
