The United States is minting international masters and grandmasters. Last week, the World Chess Federation, the game’s governing body, officially anointed Robert Hess, a student at Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan, as a grandmaster, and it confirmed three other Americans, Daniel Ludwig, Rusudan Goletiani and Enkhbat Tegshsuren, as international masters.
