I Beat and IM Today!
I should write a book called how to beat an IM in 6 moves!
Today I did just that! I used Alekhine's famous mate on some Egyptian IM and gave him a learning experience he will surely remember for years to come! In game two the game lasted a few moves longer - barely, but when our IM friend dropped a piece he knew who the better blitz player was and resigned accordingly!
Both games can be found here:
Alex beats IM twice!

Congrats!!!
I actually saw a slow tournament game a few months ago between two guys in the 1800's that had that exact same Caro-Kann mate from the first game. We were all shocked at the time that an 1800 player would fall for that!

Thanks! The first time I ever saw that mate was from an Alekhine game. From time to time people still fall into it because black's moves look so natural!

I recall seeing very similar mates in the Budapest Gambit but in that case it was white that got mated very quickly. Way to go!

The link doesn't show any chess games. Would you mind posting the moves to the Alekhine mate?

Let's see if I can remember this from memory - 1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. Nc3 dxe4 4. Nxe4 Nd7 5. Qe2 Ngf6 6. Nd6#
That's without a chess board in front of me, so hopefully I'm remembering all the details correctly.

Yeah, you will need Java to go through the games linked in Post #1.
ps- It seems only trying to quote Octals post creates a bug in the system.
