Now this isn't a great master game or anything like that...just a normal game of mine on fics where I faced an opening I had never come across before. It kinda freaked me a bit when I saw it and think I played against it ok. But I think I won more due to the fact that my opponent made strange sacrifices and let me take advantage materially, despite a pretty bad play I made near the end. I'll leave my thoughts here in the game but would love to hear other thoughts as well.

1. d4 d5 2. Bg5
Okay here he already made me scratch my head as I'd never seen this before. Looking around after the match I don't see any mention of black re
2. ...Nf6 3. Nf3 h6
Should I just challenge the bishop here right away?
4. Bh4 e6
Based on his next move, maybe I should reverse the order of moves 4 and 5.
5. Ne5 Nc6 6. Nxf7 Kxf7
His first questionable sac. Okay, I can't castle but he really has no other attack pending here...
7. e3 Be7 8. Bxf6 Bxf6 9. Bd3 Re8
Here's my first question. I know he's probably looking to play Bh7 but I'd like to connect that rook to my queen and get my king back on the 8th rank. Is this move any good or should I be looking elsewhere?
10. Bh7 e5 11. Qh5+ Kf8 12. c3 exd4 13. cxd4 Nb4 14. Na3 b6 15. O-O c5 16. dxc5 bxc5 17. Nb5 Ba6 18. Nc3 Bxf1 19. Kxf1 d4 20. Ne4 Be7 21. Qf5+ Bf6 22. Qxc5+ Qe7 23. Qf5 dxe3 24. fxe3 Qf7
My boneheaded move, giving back the rook I took on move 18. I should just play Nc2 here and get the other rook (or queen...but he would surely see that...right?)
25. Bg6 Qe7 26. Bxe8 Rxe8 27. a3 Nc2
Only 3 moves too late...
28. Ke2 Nxa1 29. b4 Nb3 0-1
So like I said, I think that against a better opponent, I'm not sure how I do. I would really appreciate any feedback you would have of the game, especially how you would defend against that opening.
