ive known the rule of chess since i was very little but have never really played much. ive been studying hard for a month now and have just joined a chess club. Im not very good it seems like i lose ever game i play, but i want to get better. the club i have joined has these books to borrow and i was wondering if anyone has read any or recommend which i should read first

40 Lessons for the Club Player – Alexander Kostyev
Attacking the Queenside – Boris Shashin
Complete Idiot's Guide to Chess, 3rd Edition, The – Patrick Wolff
Pawn Endings – A. Cvetkov
Practical Chess Endings, Algebraic Edition – Paul Keres
Tactical Chess Exchanges – Gennady Nesis
Training for the Tournament Player – Mark Dvoretsky, Arthur Yusupov

I'm not familiar with most of those books, but I would expect Mark Dvoretsky's books to be pretty difficult, and not your first choice.

So you are familiar with the basics but not quite at the club level yet. I’d start out with reviewing the Idiot’s Guide to make sure you have a good understanding of the basic elements. My next choice would be 40 Lessons for the Club Player even though it may be a bit advanced at this stage. The next step would be a study of basic tactics and endgames but it sounds like the available books on tactics may be a bit advanced. The goal is to be a pretty good all around player with a grasp of the basics of strategy, tactics and endgames. If you can accomplish that you should be able to give most players at the club a good fight. As mentioned I’d avoid books by Dvoretsky…he’s the guy people read when they start shooting for master.
