I use Chessbase Light Premium, the upgraded free version. It can be upgraded online at a nominal cost. When I upgraded my Windows Service Pack Chessbase crashed. I sent CB an e-mail and had the fix back within a matter of hours. Excellent product and service.
When I played at IECG where engines are allowed I researched analyzing positions with engines and discovered the best way is to use two engines of approximately equal strength but different styles. I used Chess Tiger and Rybka. The result was I got two totally different evaluations and the engines set to display the top 3 moves rarely agreed. I’m not good enough to distinguish between the evaluations or guide the game into positions where engines do not evaluate them properly. The net result was about an even score in 20-30 games. It was a disaster and Steinitz’ comment about a weak player analyzing a position, “Have you ever seen a monkey examining a watch?” came to mind.
